Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory in Kansas City is seeking a part-time Music Program Teacher to plan and lead music activities for children and adults within the corps and community. You will teach theory, performance skills, and values, and create weekly lesson plans aligned with the program curriculum.

Responsibilities include coordinating Bravo recitals, encouraging student growth, and supporting community outreach through music.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in music preferred, or extensive experience teaching music.
A minimum of two years’ music experience working with children/adults. Performance experience is preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in music theory and in a primary instrument.

Responsibilities

Lead music and other arts programs within the corps as assigned, including lesson planning and curriculum implementation.
Plan and attend Bravo recitals and coordinate with corps leadership for year-end Bravo concert participation.
Encourage participants to develop musical abilities, self-esteem, school/pride, and positive community involvement.
Assist with community awareness through music performances and activities.
Encourage participation in summer camps and plan campers’ involvement in divisional and day camps.
All other duties as assigned.
