Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist for a part-time role in our Spinal Cord Innovation Center. The PT will optimize patient function using evidence-based practices and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to advance mobility and recovery.

The position requires IL licensure, a Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy, and CPR/BLS certification. The role emphasizes research-informed care, patient education, and outcome-driven treatment in a leading rehab environment.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree from an accredited school of physical therapy.
• Licensed to practice in the State of Illinois.
• Current CPR or BLS certification required.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families and physicians.

Responsibilities

• Conducts advanced evaluations of neuromuscular, musculoskeletal and cardiovascular systems to inform treatment plans.
• Determines suitability for treatment based on patient evaluation results.
• Delivers therapeutic interventions based on current research and best practices.
• Designs and adapts rehabilitation programs based on progress and evidence.
• Establishes patient-centered goals using outcome measures.
• Discusses results, goals, and plans with patients and provides education.
• Leads discharge planning including home exercise programs when appropriate.
• Documents evaluations and progress for communication with physicians and insurers.
• Assists with DME delivery and fitting with the care team.
• Supervises and mentors PT students per academic standards.
