Job summary

Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove is seeking a part-time Physical Science Lab Assistant to join our on-site team. The role reports to the Physical Science Lab Coordinator and the Dean for Mathematics and Sciences and focuses on preparing lab materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe, well-organized lab environment for students.

Responsibilities include setting up and resetting labs, preparing chemical solutions and earth science materials, inventory management with Excel,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of at least one college earth science lab course and/or chemistry course with laboratory.
• Able to work independently and follow directions, written and oral.
• Available to work flexible schedule that may include both day and evening hours.
• Personal transportation available to travel between campuses if needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lab materials in accordance with faculty requests and course curriculum.
• Set up, reset for the next instructor and take down laboratory experiments.
• Prepare chemical solutions and earth science materials per established procedures.
• Maintain lab areas in a clean and safe manner and follow safety protocols.
• Assist in maintaining minor equipment and inventory using Excel database.
• Assist instructors with special projects and events and safety research (SDS).
• Complete mandatory lab safety training and college compliance.
