New York Post Group is seeking a Part-Time Photo Editor (~28 hours per week) for the California Post team. The role supports fast, visual storytelling across digital platforms, reporting to the Photo Director and collaborating with editors and reporters.

You will react quickly to breaking news, source compelling imagery, and ensure coverage is visually engaging and timely. This engagement is via a third-party vendor, with payroll managed by the vendor.

Job Description

We are looking for a Part-Time Photo Editor (~28 hours per week) to join the California Post team. The California Post's Photo Department is integral to our fast-paced newsroom, working across platforms to enhance storytelling with compelling and timely imagery. Our editors are visual journalists with sharp editorial instincts and a keen sense for what resonates with readers.

Reporting into the Photo Director, this role will be a key part of the visuals team, helping shape how stories are told across our digital platforms. The Photo Editor will react quickly to breaking news, source compelling imagery, and collaborate closely with editors and reporters to ensure our coverage is visually engaging, accurate, and timely.

Responsibilities

• Produce fast visual coverage on live breaking news and trending stories.
• Fulfill photo requests to produce high quality assets for digital and print needs.
• Researching live news, sports & political events.
• Create visually impactful composites for the homepage.

Requirements

• 2+ years experience at a multi-platform digital media brand.
• Keen newsroom experience to thrive in a fast-paced environment under pressure.
• Good photo agency knowledge of mainstream wire services and agents.
• Proven photo research and social verification skills.
• Excellent news judgment with knowledge of news, sports and entertainment.
• Digital-first mindset with experience adapting photos across platforms.
• Proficient Adobe Photoshop skills.

Note: The shift schedule for this role is Friday-Monday, 9am-4pm PST. This role is eligible for remote work. Please note that this is an engagement facilitated through a third-party vendor. While the role supports The New York Post, employment and payroll will be managed by the vendor.

Base Pay Range: $30.00 - $40.00 Hourly. We're committed to offering competitive and flexible compensation to attract top talent.
