Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a casual phlebotomist for a client site in Glenview. The role is part-time with Thursday 9am–5pm shifts, supporting venipuncture, specimen processing, and clerical tasks in a fast-paced lab environment.

Responsibilities include order entry, test result verification, and ensuring specimen integrity while delivering excellent patient service and teamwork that aligns with the organization’s patient-first values.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification from a national organization; CMA acceptable.
• 1+ year phlebotomy experience in healthcare preferred.
• Familiar with EMR systems and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and lab specimen collections per policy and age-related standards.
• Demonstrates AIDET and ensures patient safety to reduce errors.
• Receives and reviews orders; enters accurate lab orders per policy.
• Maintains patient communication and post-phlebotomy care.
• Processes specimens; labels, centrifuges, aliquots, and ships as required.
• Reviews refrigerator temperatures and QC/QA records; reports concerns.
