Job summary

Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia is seeking a part-time Phlebotomist to support Blood Bank processes and routine specimen collection. Schedule: Monday, Thursday, and Friday 2PM-8PM with every other weekend day shift 6:30AM-3PM.

Responsibilities include correctly identifying patients, labeling specimens, performing venipunctures, maintaining aseptic technique, and ensuring timely transport and documentation. A High School diploma and phlebotomy certification are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certification or equivalent training.

Responsibilities

• Identifies out patients by verbal confirmation and positive identification system.
• Identifies and labels patient specimens for Blood Bank testing using the positive patient identification system.
• Performs venipunctures and skin punctures.
• Uses aseptic technique to draw blood cultures.
• Labels all specimens clearly and completes documentation.
• Receives and routes specimens in the computer and to the appropriate department.
• Monitors inventory and re-orders supplies as needed.
• Delivers specimens to the correct department and maintains telephone etiquette.
