Schedule: 5.50 Hours/Day (9:30 am-3:00 pm) Monday-Friday 185 Days/Year

Minimum Hourly Salary: $18.90

PURPOSE OF POSITION: The personal care assistant / 1:1 Paraeducator provides instructional, behavioral, and personal care support as outlined in the student’s Individual Education Plan. The assistant is directed by the classroom teacher and supervised by the program supervisor. This position is for a school year and may terminate based on student needs.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Hold a PA Paraeducator Credential of Competency Certificate (or willing to complete the FREE online program within 6 months of hire)
• Completed a minimum of 48 post-secondary credits in any content area
• Completed an associate degree or higher in any content area
• Willing to complete 20 hours of staff development each school year

As required by the PA Department of Education: Provide evidence of 20 hours of staff development activities related to the position each year. Pro-ration applies based on hire date.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: Ability to lift or assist in lifting students from pre-school to twenty-one years old, including using assistive devices like wheelchairs. Ability to physically restrain students in emotional stress using CPI, SCM, or QBS methods, with training provided.
