Job summary

Gwinnett County Government is seeking a Part-time Deputy Sheriff I, the first level in the Deputy Sheriff series. This fully certified Peace Officer performs duties in Court Operations, Field Operations, Support Operations, and Administrative Services, with possible Jail Operations based on agency needs.

A pre-employment drug test and random testing are required as part of a safety-sensitive role. Applicants must pass a comprehensive background process (criminal, credit, driving, history checks)

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent education.
• One year of law enforcement experience.
• Must be P.O.S.T. Certified Peace Officer.

Responsibilities

• Performs general law enforcement duties, including responding to calls, assisting with the apprehension of suspects or inmates, conducting searches for contraband, ensuring the proper handling of evidence, testifying in court, warrant service and serving civil processes and court orders.
• Prepares proper paperwork for affidavits, reports, warrants, confirms validity, and serves documents as required.
• Maintains daily logs of shift activity and prepares various reports.
• Escorts and transports inmates to and from various departments, courts, and appointments.
