Job summary

Torrance Memorial is seeking a Transporter to move patients between care areas on a hospital unit, assist with EKGs, and support unit secretary duties when not actively transporting. The role requires attentiveness to patient safety, privacy, and timely communication with care teams.

Under RN direction, you will coordinate with team members, participate in emergency procedures, and help with call lights, chart handling, and basic clerical tasks to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate record

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in an acute or skilled nursing environment providing direct patient care.
• BCLS or ACLS Certification.
• Ability to perform EKGs when needed and support unit secretary tasks.

Responsibilities

• Transfer patients between care areas, ensuring correct patient identification and privacy.
• Assist with moving patients onto/off gurneys and raise side rails to secure patients.
• Provide EKG services when needed and support unit secretary responsibilities.
• Answer calls, relay messages, and coordinate with RN and team on patient needs and monitoring.
• Report changes in patient condition and participate in emergency responses (Code Blue/Orange/Green/Gray/Pink/Red).
• Maintain infection control practices and ensure patient safety during transport.
