Job summary

UPMC Passavant is seeking a Part-Time Patient Care Technician for the 4 Pavilion Medical Stepdown Unit. You will provide direct patient care under RN direction, assist with ADLs, vitals, EKGs, and telemetry, and support daily unit operations in a busy hospital setting.

This role offers rotating shifts at 24 hours per week. Starting pay varies by level from Care Attendant to Senior PCT, with growth opportunities within a mission-driven health system.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN direction, including assisting with ADLs, procedures, and therapies
• Perform core PCT responsibilities, including vital signs, point-of-care testing, telemetry application, specimen collection, bladder scans, EKGs, and basic dressings
• Assist with unit and patient needs (e.g., responding to call lights, meal delivery, patient transport, and monitoring)
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment while following infection control and safety protocols
• Monitor patients and report changes in condition or equipment issues promptly
• Document care accurately and complete clerical tasks as needed
• Support unit operations by stocking supplies and assisting with department activities
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to support coordinated care
• Demonstrate professionalism by building positive relationships, supporting team initiatives, and seeking opportunities for growth and development
• Respond to emergent situations and provide patient supervision or assistance as appropriate
