Job summary

Optum River Falls Area Hospital is seeking a Part Time Patient Access Representative Senior to greet patients and manage the standard registration process. You will collect demographic and insurance information, verify eligibility, and enter data into the electronic medical record, directing patients to their appointments.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in customer service in healthcare and 1+ year revenue cycle experience, with Epic and EMR familiarity preferred.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of customer service experience in healthcare, retail, or related settings.
  • 1+ years of revenue cycle experience in a healthcare environment (registration, scheduling, insurance verification, etc).
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to work 8 hour shifts between 7:00am - 4:00pm on a rotating schedule.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome patients in person and collect demographic information.
  • Perform standard registration and enter data into electronic medical records.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and collect patient information for billing.
  • Direct patients to their appointments or procedures and assist with scheduling add-ons.

Location:River Falls Area Hospital – 1629 E Division St, River Falls, WI

Job Summary:Responsible for greeting and welcoming patients in person. Provides a standard registration process by collecting demographic and financial data and enter information into a electronic medical record.

  • Collects demographic and insurance information
  • Checks in and interviews patients to complete the registration process
  • Obtains signatures from patients as needed
  • Directs patient to their appointment or procedure
  • May assist in scheduling add-on appointments
  • Documents any issues and resolutions in electronic medical record
  • Resolves claim issues and registration errors on patient accounts and in assigned work queues
  • Uses resources, tools and procedures to complete registrations for complex accounts
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits information for payers and interprets results, focusing on complex billing situations
  • Obtains cost information and explains information to patients
  • Collects on patient financial obligations
  • Handles complex questions as needed
  • Screening and approve patients for financial assistance programs and financial counsel as needed.
  • Provides technical or functional direction for employees
  • Assists patient in completion of request for information forms and submits to appropriate department
  • Provide customer service for inbound and outbound telephone calls
  • Identifies and escalates trends to leadership related to daily site activities
  • Participates in the orientation and training of employees and provides feedback to leadership
  • Exhibits behaviors and expectations that are consistent with leadership roles
  • Assists and supports team in all roles
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, food service, bank/office settings, call center, or other setting that engages with customers
  • 1+ years of revenue cycle experiencein a healthcare/hospital setting (clinic/hospital registration, scheduling, prior authorization, insurance verification, medical billing and follow up, benefits eligibility, etc)
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work 8 hour shifts between the hours of 7:00am - 4:00pm, in the following rotating schedule:
    • Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
    • Week 2: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
  • Must be 18 years or older

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Epic Experience
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Consistent walking, standing, bending, turning, etc.
  • Lifting weight Up to 10 lbs. occasionally, up to 2-5 lbs. frequently

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $20.00 to $36.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
