Optum is hiring a Part Time Patient Access Registration Representative in Wisconsin. The role supports patient reception, scheduling, insurance verification, and payment processing for campus-based departments.

We offer 4 weeks of paid training. The schedule rotates to cover weekends and weekdays, with hours posted per week. A sign-on bonus is available for external applicants.

Qualifications

  • 6+ months of customer service experience in a healthcaresetting
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work 20 hours per week in a rotating schedule

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in person or via phone/video with excellent service
  • Enter and update patient demographics and financial data during registration
  • Obtain applications and forms, confirm signatures, scan documents
  • Provide financial information and collect patient liabilities; balance cash daily
  • Coordinate with Financial Counseling, Scheduling, and clinical areas as needed
  • Provide wayfinding and assist with hospital information
  • Assist with admission needs, bed assignments, and tracking boards
  • Meet or exceed audit accuracy; use worklists and reports to resolve issues
  • Performs other duties as requested

ThePart TimePatient Access Registration Representativesupports patient care delivery in the areas of patient reception, scheduling, insurance verification, and payment processing for campuses with hospital and medical group departments.

Location:1011 Spring City Dr, Waukesha, WI 53186

We offer 4 weeks of paid training. The hours of the training will be based on schedule or will be discussed on your first day of employment.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Greets visitors and patients in person, or communicates by telephone or video conferencing, upholding excellent customer service
  • Enters and updates patient demographic and financial information, ensuring the patient is fully registered as early in the process as possible
  • Obtains appropriate applications and forms, confirming signatures are on file. Photocopies/scans documents as needed
  • Provides patients with financial responsibility information and collects patient liabilities, documents amount in the appropriate fields, and balances the cash box daily
  • Works with partnering departments (Financial Counseling, Scheduling, Financial Clearance, and clinical areas) to ensure all aspects of the patient's encounter are completed as needed
  • Provides wayfinding instructions and assists with hospital information as requested
  • Coordinates patient admission needs, bed assignments, and tracking boards where applicable
  • Meets or exceeds audit accuracy standards. Works worklists and error reports timely, and proactively seeks assistance to resolve as needed
  • May perform other duties upon request

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 6+ months of customer service experience in an office/healthcare setting
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work 20 hours per week in the following rotating schedule:
    • Week 1- Sunday from 7:45am - 12:00pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30am - 6:00pm
    • Week 2- Monday from 4:00pm - 8:00pm, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:00pm - 6:00pm, Saturday from 7:45am - 12:00pm
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with electronic medical records system
  • Experience in a medical office or hospital admitting/registration office
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
Soft Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in fast paced environments

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $29.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
