Schwan's Company's restaurant in Minneapolis' North Loop, Edwards Dessert Kitchen, is hiring! If you have a passion for pastry and want to grow your skills by learning new modern techniques in a friendly, creative environment, then the Pastry Cook position is for you! In this role, you will produce beautiful desserts under the guidance of the Executive Chef, including Plant-Based and Gluten-Free desserts using alternative ingredients. Creative collaboration is encouraged, and teamwork is essential!

Responsibilities:
  • Produce all menu items according to standardized recipes to the quality levels established by the pastry chef.
  • Ensure quality and consistency of all outgoing food.
  • Participate in regular briefings and operational meetings.
  • Be punctual and work quickly and effectively in high-pressure situations or rush periods.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.
  • Report to the Pastry Sous Chef in the absence of the Executive Pastry Chef.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in an efficient, friendly, and hospitable manner.
  • Maintain sanitation standards set by management, keeping a safe, clean work area by sweeping, mopping, wiping counters and work surfaces, washing dishes.
  • Comply with and enforce restaurant and OSHA sanitation regulations and safety standards.
  • Conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the company’s mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and standards of conduct.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of pastry experience in a restaurant or bakery.
  • Knowledge of how to make various pastries including mousses, creams, cakes, cookies, and ability to plate desserts and savories to the standard of the Executive Chef.
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours, lift up to 50 pounds, and knowledge of hygiene, sanitation, and OSHA requirements within a kitchen.
Compensation & Benefits:

The base pay is $16.00 per hour, with a range considering various factors such as education, skills, experience, certifications, and location. Starting pay may vary for successful candidates.
