Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Parking Enforcement Worker to monitor campus parking, provide information on regulations and options, and patrol lots to identify violations on the State College campus.

Approximately 20 hours per week, pay starting at $15.00 per hour. Applicants must pass background checks and drive a vehicle as part of the job duties. Equal opportunity employer with eligibility protections for all qualified applicants.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Successful completion of background checks in accordance with University policies.

Responsibilities

  • Greet campus visitors; respond to questions and provide information.
  • Inspect roadways, parking areas for violations; issue tickets and/or warnings.
  • Identify vehicles designated for towing; contact towing service and report vehicle information; document vehicle information to University Police.
  • Identify bicycles parked in violation; issue tickets and/or warnings.
  • Identify and tag unregistered and dilapidated bicycles.
  • Impound bicycles as necessary; complete bicycle property receipt and assign storage number.
  • Assemble barricades and set up cones for events or special parking arrangements.
  • Inspect roadways, parking lots, signage for safety issues and report to supervisor or University Police.
  • Place barricades or cones to maintain a safe environment.
  • Direct traffic within parking lots during events or emergencies.
  • Operate equipment such as handheld computers/printers, two-way radios, cameras, power grinders and bolt cutters.

Job Description and Position Requirements

Parking Enforcement Workers monitor areas across campus to ensure the availability of parking and the safety of those entering and exiting campus lots by upholding University Parking regulations; provide information on parking regulations and available parking options; patrol assigned area of campus to identify parking violations and illegally parked vehicles; issue parking tickets and/or warnings.

  • Inspect roadways, parking areas, etc. for motor vehicles parked in violation of parking rules and regulations; issue parking tickets and/or warnings.
  • Identify vehicles designated for towing; contact towing service and report vehicle information; document and report vehicle information to University Police.
  • Identify bicycles parked in violation of parking rules and regulations and issue tickets and/or warnings.
  • Identify and tag all unregistered and dilapidated bicycles.
  • Impound bicycles as necessary; complete bicycle property receipt and assign storage number.
  • Assemble barricades and set up cones for events, special parking arrangements, etc.
  • Inspect roadways, parking lots, signage, etc. for safety issues and/or disrepair; report issues to supervisor and/or University Police as necessary.

Background Checks/Clearances

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
