Job summary

Rural Metro Fire Department in Billings is seeking a Part-Time Paramedic to provide advanced patient care on 911 responses. You will drive the ambulance, lead scene operations as needed, and work 2–3 days per week after a two-week orientation.

This role requires a State Paramedic License, State Driver’s License, BLS/ACLS/NREMT-Paramedic, and a high school diploma; a health-care background is preferred and a physical agility test is required.

Qualifications

• Two-week orientation must be attended, then 2–3 training days per week.
• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Licensed as a State Paramedic.
• State Driver’s License required.
• BLS, ACLS, and NREMT-Paramedic certifications required.
• Driving record must comply with company policy.
• Pass Physical Agility Test.
• Some healthcare-related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess each call situation to determine the best course of action while working with progressive Paramedic protocols.
• Utilize your Paramedic skills on medical equipment and procedures including defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, and intravenous fluids to provide advanced medical care.
• Communicate with patients and loved ones to provide information and assurance that care is being given.
• Act as Paramedic team leader and take responsibility for the scene and unit management as needed.
• Drive the ambulance on 911 responses.
• Work collaboratively and in a professional manner with all allied health and public safety personnel as well as your fellow Paramedics.
• Participate in community programs to maintain AMR image and establish strong community relations.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Part-time position requires availability to attend a two-week orientation, Monday–Friday, 0800–1600, and to work 2–3 days per week during training.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
