Spee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. in Des Moines, IA is seeking a part-time Package Handler to load, unload, and sort freight accurately and promptly to support quick deliveries.

Shifts include evening to overnight windows; pay ranges from $18.00 to $20.00 per hour based on experience. Ideal candidates are at least 16 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Unload packages by hand from fleet vehicles.
• Scan barcode labels for tracking during unloading.
• Sort packages by zip code, city, or state.
• Stack freight in trailers to maximize space and prevent damage.
• Wash fleet vehicles as needed to maintain image.
• Perform light custodial duties for a clean warehouse.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Spee Dee Delivery is a family owned and operated company that was started in 1978 by Donald and Sylvia Weeres. Our core business is in standard, next-day, ground delivery. The corporate headquarters and main sort facility is located in St. Cloud, MN. We currently employ over 1,800 employees company wide and over the years we have expanded throughout the Midwest.

Job Summary

Part-Time Package Handler will load, unload, and sort freight accurately and in a timely manner to ensure quick delivery.

Hours and Wages

• Monday-Friday, 10:00PM - 3:00AM
• Monday-Friday, 1:00AM-5:30AM
• Monday-Friday, 4:00PM-8:00PM
• $18.00-20.00 per hour, based on experience

Duties And Responsibilities

• Unload packages by hand from fleet vehicles
• Scan package barcode labels while unloading for tracking purposes
• Sort each package by zip code, city, or state
• Stack freight into trailers and routes in a manner to prevent damage and utilize space efficiently
• Wash fleet vehicles to maintain company image, as needed
• Perform light custodial duties to maintain a clean and safe warehouse environment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education And Experience

• At least 16 years of age

Physical Requirements

• Ability to bend, lift, twist, carry, and slide freight
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively and up to 100 pounds occasionally
• Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
