Job Description:

The Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky seeks qualified candidates for the position of Overnight Desk Clerk. This is a 10-month part-time position with a possible extension into the summer that reports to the Assistant Director of Residential Life.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the residential lobby and desk between the hours of 11:00pm to 7:00am, remaining awake and alert for the duration of the shift
  • Perform rounds of Gatton Academy common spaces every two hours
  • Welcome and assist students, family members, and visitors
  • Check IDs of visitors and individuals signing out students
  • Record students checking into and out of the program
  • Answer the Gatton Academy residential desk phone and accurately direct messages to appropriate staff members
  • Follow established response plans in the event of emergency or concerning activity
  • Communicate via email and telephone with various Gatton Academy stakeholders
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Clerical support (file preparation, sorting, researching, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • The ability to maintain confidentiality regarding protected student data
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Punctual, dependable, and organized

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Availability for WKU's Fall and Spring semesters and a five-week Summer Camp
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule, including weekdays and every other weekend

Compensation and Benefits:

  • 10-month, part-time position (28 hours/week during academic year, up to 40 hours/week during summer camp)
  • $13.00/hour
  • Benefits include partial University tuition waiver once meet employment duration requirements.
