Job summary

Riverside Regional Medical Center in Yorktown, Virginia is seeking a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to carry out individualized plans for patients with acute and chronic conditions, under supervision of a physical therapist.

The PTA will perform procedures, assess patient needs, record progress, and educate patients on interventions while supporting team members across the rehabilitation service.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant or CAPTE-certified graduate (Required).
• Virginia PTA license (VDHP) upon hire (Required).
• CPR/BLS certification within 30 days (Required).
• 1 year healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows the plan of care and performs PTA procedures under supervision.
• Assesses patient needs, documents progress, and communicates with the PT.
• Delivers therapy such as exercise, massage, gait and balance training.
• Provides patient education on interventions and safety.
• Supports training of staff and volunteers as needed.

The PTA will also maintain a positive working relationship with other health professionals and ancillary staff.What you will doFollows the plan of care and performs PTA procedures as allowed by referral to aid in restoring function, improving mobility, relieving pain, and preventing or limiting permanent physical disabilities.
