Job summary

Wheaton Park District invites applications for a role delivering outdoor education programs at Lincoln Marsh Natural Area and across traveling outreach venues. Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Progress towards a bachelor’s degree with a preference in Environmental Science, Outdoor Education, Recreation, or other Education field preferred.
• Experience presenting programs to diverse audiences in classroom or informal settings preferred.
• Knowledge of parks and recreation field, local flora and fauna preferred.
• Strong problem solving, analytical, organizational, interpersonal; written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present outdoor education programs (science, nature, team building, etc.).
• Maintain, organize, and inventory program equipment.
• Supervise and enforce rules and regulations with program participants.
• Record and maintain program attendance rosters, inspection logs, and pre/post reports.
• Report repairs and maintenance needs of program areas, equipment, and grounds.
• Transport equipment and travel to program sites at various institutions and facilities.
• Communicate with supervisors, coworkers, and program participants in a timely manner.
• Administer site-specific first aid and CPR procedures.
• Maintain safety in the work area through safety protocols and procedures.
• Provide high quality customer service to internal and external customers.
• Follow Lincoln Marsh and Wheaton Park District policies.
