Job summary

Mott Community College seeks a Part-Time Instructor for the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program to teach lecture and laboratory components, including mental health and related courses, in alignment with the approved curriculum.

The candidate must hold an ACOTE-accredited OTA program credential, an OTA associate degree (with a health-related bachelor’s as applicable), and be a licensed or eligible COTA with strong teaching and communication skills for a diverse student body.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ACOTE-accredited program for occupational therapy assistants.
• Associate’s Degree in OTA with a Bachelor’s degree in a health care related field or education.
• Educational credentials must be from accredited institutions.
• At least three years of recent, relevant, full-time clinical experience.
• Currently credentialed as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
• Michigan COTA licensure or eligibility prior to hire.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Understanding of community college teaching and mission.
• Innovative, flexible and positive teaching style; ability to engage diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Teach lecture and/or laboratory portions of mental health and other OTA program courses.
• Adhere to course objectives and approved curriculum.
• Assess learning outcomes and demonstrate effective pedagogy.
• Maintain licensure/credentials and comply with Perkins funding requirements.
• Demonstrate professional development and collegial collaboration.
• Ensure safety and effective communication with students and staff.
