Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a part-time Orthodontic Dental Assistant to support a Craniofacial Orthodontist with patient care and education. The role involves taking intraoral photos, scans, and assisting with all orthodontic procedures in a busy clinical setting.

Requirements include a high school diploma with a dental assistant certificate, Ohio radiography certification, and at least two years of orthodontic experience. Strong record-keeping and EMR proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma and a dental assistant certificate.
• Ohio radiography certification is required.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical dental/orthodontic experience.
• Associates degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients on oral hygiene and braces care.
• Take intraoral photos and dental scans for orthodontic patients.
• Assist with orthodontic procedures.
• Take dental scans for fabrication of appliances.
• Assist with lip taping of cleft patients.
• Prep, sanitize and stock exam rooms to hospital standards.
• Liaise with patients, orthodontist and Craniofacial team.
• Enter notes in EPIC and Dolphin, and codes for patients.
• Upload images to Dolphin and Romexis.
• Flush VAC lines and water bottles.
• Submit and track lab appliances.
• Coordinate referrals and appointments with outside providers.
• Fabricate and trim orthodontic devices (retainers).
• Other duties as assigned.
