Job summary

Headlands Research is seeking a Principal Investigator to lead and oversee clinical trials across our network, ensuring protocol, regulatory, and ethical compliance while mentoring site staff and coordinating with sponsors, monitors, and leadership.

An MD or DO licensed in Maryland with board certification or eligibility is required, and prior PI or Sub-PI experience is highly valued in our diverse, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO license in Maryland required (or eligible).
  • Board-certified or board-eligible.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with sponsors, research teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, and industry best practices in clinical research.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience as a Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator a plus, but candidates without will be considered.

  • Oversee subject safety, trial conduct compliance, and the informed consent process.
  • Communicate effectively with sponsors, monitors, regulators, and research network leadership.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to research staff.

Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator for clinical research trials a huge plus, but willing to consider those without.
  • Current and unencumbered license to practice as an MD or DO within the state of Maryland required (or eligible for).
  • Must be board-certified or board‑eligible.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with sponsors, research teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, and industry best practices in clinical research.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
