Job summary

Family Eye Physicians in Chicago seeks a dedicated Optometrist with strong diagnostic skills and a passion for delivering a great patient experience. Our optometrists are comprehensive primary eye care specialists who see patients with a wide variety of pathology and refractive needs.

This weekend-only role offers a collaborative team of optical professionals and a supportive environment with a competitive compensation package and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Experience with maintaining quality, safety and infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.
  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
  • Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Examines eyes using observation, instruments and pharmaceuticals to diagnose diseases and abnormalities.
  • Prescribes medications to treat eye diseases, removes foreign bodies, and analyzes test results to develop treatment plans.
  • Prescribes therapeutic procedures to correct or conserve vision.
  • Provides pre- and post-operative care for eye surgeries such as cataract and laser vision correction.
  • Interprets diagnostic tests ordered and explains results to patients.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctor of Optometry Degree (OD) from an Accredited School of Optometry
  • State Licensed or will be licensed to practice Optometry (New Graduates) in the State of Illinois
