The School of Optometry at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is seeking a part-time registered optician to provide high-quality training and education in the optical shop (10 Optical). The role is 27 hours per week with on-site requirements at the Worcester campus.

Responsibilities include patient education, processing orders, insurance verification, billing posting, and support for student interns and laboratory functions such as edging.

Formación

• Current MA Optician License or Apprentice Optician Registration with supervised hours and potential licensure within six months.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in optical management.
• Experience with third-party payers and vision care plans (VSP, Eyemed, Spectera, MassHealth).
• Experience with electronic health records, inventory management systems, and ordering platforms.

Responsabilidades

• Provide patient education on lens and frame options.
• Process daily patient orders in a timely manner.
• Verify insurance/vision care coverage for optical products and services.
• Oversee collection of patient payments and posting of charges in the system.
• Assist with student interns and instruction of laboratory functions (edging).
• Keep current details on vision care plans and third-party payers.
• Assist with inventory management and control.
• Use edging equipment.
