Job summary

The Metropolitan Opera is seeking part-time Ushers to support performances at Lincoln Center. Ushers provide welcoming guest service, distribute programs, and assist attendees with directions and event information.

This role requires flexible availability for matinee, evening, weekend, and holiday performances. Shifts are 4 hours on a performance call basis, with duties including safety enforcement, crowd control, and collaboration with Performance Managers and security staff.

Qualifications

• Guest service experience in hospitality or events.
• Excellent communication and a welcoming demeanor.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Availability to work matinee, evening, and weekend performances.
• Must join union if regular employee.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and provide information about events.
• Distribute Playbills and materials as needed.
• Operate ticket‑scanning devices and read tickets accurately.
• Enforce house policies and manage audience flow.
• Open/close doors and assist with entrances.
• Communicate with Performance Managers and security staff.
• Monitor guests and report emergencies to supervisory staff.
