Job summary

Secure Community Network (SCN) is seeking a part-time Office Security Specialist for our Chicago office. You will protect staff, visitors, and property through access control, monitoring, and incident prevention. The role requires security certification, LEOSA eligibility, and strong communication skills.

Shifts total ~21–28 hours weekly, with availability on Saturdays and weekdays. The organization offers voluntary benefits and PTO for part‑time staff.

Qualifications

• Completion of law enforcement certification from an accredited academy with at least 10 years sworn experience.
• Must qualify under LEOSA (HR 218) to legally possess a concealed firearm.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid training.
• Working knowledge of physical security systems, access control, CCTV, and alarm equipment.
• Trustworthy with confidentiality and professional demeanor in a team setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Apple environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage access and visitor control at the Field Support Center, including screening, badge issuance, and escort.
• Monitor security cameras and inspect mail deliveries.
• Conduct routine perimeter patrols to identify security risks.
• Coordinate with building management, staff, vendors, and law enforcement.
• Respond to emergencies and security threats, medical or otherwise.
• Use de‑escalation techniques to manage incidents.
• Provide first aid, AED, and stop‑the‑bleed techniques as needed.
• Deliver security awareness briefings to staff.
