Yosemite Community College District is seeking a part-time Online Family Life Instructor to teach lower-division courses. The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s degree in child development or related fields and experience teaching online. Responsibilities include course evaluation, student advising, and adapting course material to diverse learner needs. The position offers competitive hourly pay, with additional emphasis on culturally responsive teaching.

The Hourly Range: $59.91 – $95.78
Doctorate Range: $70.60 to $98.30
(2021-2022 Certified Part-time Instructor/Overload Hourly Salary Schedule)
Personnel new to the District are limited to a maximum 10th step placement based on previous experience: $93.01.
With the exception of Workers’ Compensation benefits; this classification is not eligible for District paid benefits.
Scope of Assignment:Under the general supervision of the discipline Division Dean, will teach lower-division Family Life courses online in accordance with course descriptions, outlines, and class schedules; evaluate progress of student; advise students concerning educational matters; assess course learning outcomes; and perform other instructional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:Master’s in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/ family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education
OR Bachelor’s in any of the above
AND Master’s in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/ home economics, family life studies or family and consumer studies
OR the equivalent
Master’s Degree in Educational Technology or equivalent, OR possession of an online teaching certificate from a recognized online instruction program such as @One (onefortraining), the Online Learning Consortium (onlinelearning consortium.org) or equivalent. Previous experience teaching lower-division online Family Life classes. Experience using the Canvas Learning Management System.
Desirable Professional Characteristics:Teach lower division college courses online in the subject of Family Life.

BACKGROUND CHECK: A background investigation of new employees is required, including reference checks and a state criminal history report. Employment will not begin until the history check has been cleared by Human Resources. The cost for the criminal history report will be the responsibility of the successful candidate.
TRANSCRIPTS: At the time an offer of assignment is made, proper salary placement is contingent upon receipt of OFFICIAL (sealed) transcripts. Instructors with advanced degrees and coursework shall be placed on the appropriate salary column and step up to step 10. Initial salary placement will be at the first column/step until official transcripts have been submitted to Human Resources and placement processed. Note: there is a separate salary range for summer school.
