Job summary

American Medical Response in Independence, IA is hiring Paramedics for part-time and on-call roles, with starting pay of $26.44 per hour commensurate with experience.

You’ll assess calls, provide advanced medical care with defibrillator, monitor, IVs, and oxygen, lead scenes when needed, and work closely with public safety partners and the community.

Qualifications

• State Paramedic License is required.
• State Driver’s License is required.
• BLS, ACLS, and NREMT-Paramedic certifications required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Driving record must comply with company policy.
• Pass Physical Agility Test.
• Some healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess each call to determine best action within Paramedic protocols.
• Use medical equipment and procedures to provide advanced care, including defibrillator, monitor, IVs, oxygen.
• Communicate with patients and families to provide information and reassurance.
• Act as Paramedic team leader and manage scene and unit as needed.
• Drive the ambulance on 911 responses.
• Collaborate with allied health and public safety personnel.
• Participate in community programs to maintain AMR image.

Responsibilities

• Assess each call situation to determine the best course of action while working with progressive Paramedic protocols.
• Utilize your Paramedic skills on medical equipment and procedures including defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, and intravenous fluids to provide advanced medical care.
• Communicate with patients and loved ones to provide information and assurance that care is being given.
• Act as Paramedic team leader and take responsibility for the scene and unit management as needed.
• Drive the ambulance on 911 responses.
• Work collaboratively and in a professional manner with all allied health and public safety personnel as well as your fellow Paramedics.
• Participate in community programs to maintain AMR image and establish strong community relations.

MinimumRequired Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• State Paramedic License

• Some work experience, preferably healthcare
