Job description

The Nurse Aide Certification Assistant shall report to the Dean of Applied Sciences and Learning Technology. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the Nurse Aide Certification classroom an average of 1-3 days per week per semester (2 two-hour classes per day).
  • Candidate will be present in the classroom during instruction and skills check-offs.
  • Candidate will be asked to observe students during skills practice and demonstration.
  • Candidate will also be asked to be in the classroom when the instructor is absent. Days to be determined and schedule is flexible to fit within the classroom schedule.
  • A level of maturity, respect, and integrity will be required.
  • Candidate must appreciate the growth and development stages associated with this age group.
  • Candidate may be asked to supervise during their clinical rotation, which is scheduled in the spring semester. Opportunity for growth within the classroom is possible.
  • This is a high school dual credit program for Lea County Junior and Senior students.
  • May serve on various campus committees as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required
  • Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.
Qualifications
  • Current unencumbered Nursing license required.
  • Nursing Home work experience of at least 1 year and/or Nurse Aide classroom instruction experience of 5 years or more
  • Should be eligible to work in New Mexico.
