JOB PURPOSE: Ensure existing facilities are kept clean, safe, and well maintained.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

1. Clean assigned areas:
2. Interior - Hallways, Restrooms, Offices, Classrooms, Multi-purpose Room, and any other area assigned by supervisor
3. Exterior – Perimeter of school building, parking lot, playground, windows, and any other area assigned by supervisor
4. Empty Trash from any and all trash receptacles.
5. Dust FF&E, window sills, air vents, and any other area assigned by supervisor.
6. Clean and sterilize restroom facilities.
7. Clean up bodily messes including vomit, feces, urine, and blood in accordance with training.
8. Remove waste in cafeteria for breakfast and lunch.
9. Assist with cleaning cafeteria tables.
10. Keep cafeteria floors at an acceptable clean level.
11. Sterilize all high-use areas to reduce the spread of bacteria and any other harmful agents.
12. Assist Head Custodian with cleaning projects or tasks.
13. Assist with creating and building preventative maintenance processes and monitoring systems for extended life of facility-related components.
14. Travel may be required to nearby schools or warehouse/storage.
15. Participate successfully in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignments.
16. Review current developments, literature, and janitorial sources of information related to job responsibilities.
17. Ensure adherence to OSHA and maximum safety procedures.
18. Perform other duties as delegated by Supervisor.
19. Follow federal and state laws, as well as company policies.

Accountability Procedures

Responsibilities

The Director of Projects & Facilities will assess effectiveness annually in coordination with school administration, maintenance coordinator, and head custodian:

• Must carry a hand-held radio at all times while on school property if assigned by Supervisor.
• Must stay on school property at all times – from beginning of workday until the end, including lunch.
• Assigned a 30-minute lunch break, with timing adjusted to school needs. All Custodians are required to report and assist with emergency situations as needed.
• No Custodian is allowed to leave campus to run personal errands without permission from their Facilities Supervisor.
• MAY PERFORM OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

Job Requirements

• Education – minimum high school graduate with continuing education in construction or facilities-related fields.
• Experience – At least 1 year of janitorial trade experience.
• Special Qualifications – Must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above.
