Seattle University seeks a part-time Muslim Chaplin to provide pastoral care for students and lead interfaith initiatives on campus. The role includes developing religious services with student leaders, managing budgets, and fostering Islamic life within the university community.
Ideal candidates will be Imam-designated with an MDiv or related Islamic studies degree and 2–3 years of university experience, with a passion for Jesuit values and inclusive spiritual leadership.

The part-time Muslim Chaplin will provide pastoral care and support to students; lead weekly student programs; manage and steward program budgets; develop and maintain strategic partnerships with local organizations; and coordinate interfaith initiatives that foster and strengthen Muslim life and presence on campus. This is a part-time position scheduled for 10 hours per week, 11 months per year, with July off.
$35 per hour
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status. Positions designated as hybrid eligible may offer the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule after successful completion of an introductory period of 3–6 months. In these cases, the role typically begins fully on campus to support onboarding and training, with the potential to transition to a hybrid arrangement thereafter. Positions designated as on-site are not eligible for hybrid work and are expected to remain fully on campus. All flexible work arrangements are subject to periodic review and may be modified or discontinued at any time at the university’s discretion.
