Iron County School District is seeking a Part-Time Music Prep Paraprofessional for East Elementary to support instruction and classroom management. The role involves planning and delivering music activities, guiding students, and maintaining music equipment.

The position runs 16 hours per week and remains open until filled. Ideal candidates will assist with a balanced music program, adapt lessons for individual pupils, and leverage basic computer skills including Google Docs.

Qualifications

• Provides instructional support assistance to students and student groups.
• Assists in classroom management systems and routines.
• Teaches music understanding and appreciation to elementary pupils.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional support assistance to students and student groups.
• Participates in the development, maintenance and carrying out of systems for classroom management.
• Guides students in working and interacting harmoniously with other students.
• Operates various types of office equipment such as computers, copy machines, etc.
• Complies with established district policies and procedures.
• Teaches skills in music understanding/appreciation, harmony, explorations in music and choral music to elementary pupils.
• Plans/executes a balanced music program and organizes class time so that preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.
• Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the music curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
• Encourages students to develop individual musical skills to the greatest extent possible.
• Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of pupils.
• Maintains care/responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments and equipment to prevent loss or abuse.
• Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required.
• Evaluates each pupil's musical growth, performance, and musical understanding.
• Assesses each individual's contribution to the performance of the group.
• Selects appropriate music, books and instructional aides to enhance learning and requisitions musical instruments and instructional supplies as necessary.
• Regular, reliable, predictable attendance and job performance is required
• Coordinates with School Principal and staff in providing musical programs for school assemblies, open house, parent meetings, and seasonal programs.
• Utilizes the course study prescribed by the District approved curriculum that will enable the students to do the following:
• Demonstrate a positive learning attitude
• Develop social skills and ethical responsibility
• Demonstrate responsible emotional and cognitive behaviors.
• Must have basic computer knowledge, be familiar with Google docs and check email frequently. Must be willing to learn and use all computer systems and software as needed.
