General Description

The School of Music has a need for a part-time Music Instructor for the Conducting course. The course is taught in person on the Sanborn, NY campus. The objective is to introduce students to the basics of conducting proficiency, terminology, and score study. Topics include conducting technique, posture, preparatory gestures, the ictus, eye contact, meters, releases, fermatas, styles, dynamics, hand autonomy, cues, entrances, baton technique, repertoire, and rehearsal procedure. Students will have opportunities to conduct in class, in rehearsal, and in performance venues, as well as to attend local performances.
