Job summary

Hamilton College is seeking a part-time, on-call Security Officer to provide safety, security and guest services in both public and non-public museum spaces. The role is non-benefited, with hours limited to under 910 per year and may include evenings and weekends.

Reporting to the Wellin Museum Safety Manager, you will conduct rounds, monitor access, perform emergency responses, document incidents and support visitor safety within the campus community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a New York State Security Guard License.

Responsibilities

• Security and protection of museum property, exhibits, classrooms and assets.
• Conduct hourly rounds to ensure visitor and property safety; document issues in log book.
• Perform building security, door security, opening/closing duties and building rounds.
• Identify and clear guests entering the museum as required.
• Maintain safety of all persons on museum property and report irregularities.
• Keep daily records and draft incident reports as needed.
• Respond to emergency calls; may provide CPR or First Aid.
• Act as Evacuation Monitor during emergencies.
• Escort approved visitors through non-public areas and monitor access to storage areas.
• Inspect parcels and conduct routine safety checks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
