Job summary

Hamilton College is seeking a Safety Officer to deter crime, enforce campus rules, and protect life and property. The role involves patrols on foot, bike, and vehicle, emergency response, and coordination of safety services.

Responsibilities include monitoring alarms, documenting incidents, assisting victims, and supporting special events. Must have a high school diploma and obtain First Aid/CPR within one year, plus NYS Security Guard Act eligibility and a valid NYS driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; three years related experience preferred.
• Must obtain Basic First Aid and CPR within one year of employment.
• Must be eligible to satisfy NYS Security Guard Act requirements and possess a valid NYS Operator’s License and an excellent driving history.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned areas on foot, bicycle, and vehicle; monitor alarms and cameras.
• Responds to incidents and emergencies; prepares written reports.
• Provide basic first aid and CPR when necessary.
• Develops community relations to identify concerns and improve safety.
• Inspects property for hazards and minimize risk.
• Investigates incidents and submits written reports.
• Enforces campus safety, parking policies, and supports events.
