Job description

Assist instructors and students in instructional laboratories.

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and must submit a complete application packet through the on-line application system to be considered. A complete application consists of the following:

  • Copy of college transcripts (Transcript of college work verifying degree requirement; must include degree awarded and date confirmed. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted before the deadline, but official transcripts must be received if employed.)
Application materials must provide documentation that the applicant meets all minimum qualifications.
Applicants must provide information from previous employers documenting full-time related work experience if an offer is made.
  1. Assist students with classroom assignments and lab exercises.
  2. Prepare, maintain and repair lab analyzers and equipment.
  3. Assist with writing and maintaining laboratory policies and procedures.
  4. Keep lab areas clean, orderly, and stocked.
  5. Manage lab inventory and supplies; Assist with ordering as needed.
  6. Assist in development of classroom and lab demonstrations to promote the program.
  7. Perform all duties with professionalism.
  8. Utilize various technology and software to accomplish job related tasks.
  9. Assist MLT program director with NAACLS accreditation compliance
  10. Perform other appropriate duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  1. Graduate of an NAACLS accredited MLT or MLS program.
  2. National certification as an MLT or MLS by ASCP, AMT or other recognized certifying body.
  3. Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in a hospital laboratory.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Strong skills in communication, organization, interpersonal, problem solving and counseling.
  2. Skills and Knowledge of current computer technology.
  3. Ability to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
  4. Prior experience in supervising personnel or assessment of laboratory competency and providing useful feedback.
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  6. Willingness to work directly with students in a lab setting.
  7. Certifications or accomplishments in the field of laboratory medicine.
  8. Sensitivity and commitment to cultural diversity.
  9. Willingness to learn and work with other occupational areas as required.
  10. An understanding of the role and philosophy of the community college system.
