Job summary

Trinity Health Shelby is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our laboratory team. The MLS will receive specimens, perform testing, evaluate results, and report findings while maintaining quality control and equipment.

Qualifications

• MLS (ASCP) certification or MLT (ASCP) certification.
• Associates/Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry or Biology.
• National Licensure as a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician - ASCP, AMT
• Language Skills: Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Receives specimens, clarifies test requests, checks specimen integrity/labeling.
• Organizes, prepares and processes specimens.
• Works independently in assigned departments with the laboratory.
• Performs testing, evaluates results, solves problems, documents results and communicates reports as needed.
• Assists in training and orientation of new employees and students.
• Performs specimen collection duties.
