Job summary

UPMC McKeesport is seeking a part-time Milieu Therapist to join our behavioral health team. This role supports patients, families and a multidisciplinary staff, providing therapeutic activities and ensuring a safe, healing environment across day, evening, and overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field, with mental health experience preferred, strong communication skills, and the ability to work physically with patients

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field (Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling) or related coursework.
• Mental health experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Relevant group/individuals therapy experience is strongly preferred.
• Must be physically capable of assisting with direct care as needed.

Responsibilities

• Learn and implement current patient care practices.
• Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic activity groups.
• Promote activities of daily living and patient engagement.
• Maintain accurate documentation in medical records.
• Manage crisis situations using positive approaches.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary team and participate in meetings.
