Qualifications

• Passionate about supporting middle school students' academic growth in ELA.
• Comfortable supporting reading, writing, vocabulary, and comprehension across Grades 6–8.
• Able to provide targeted academic support to students who may need remediation in ELA.
• Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field.
• Cleared (or eligible for clearance) through NYC DOE PETS background check and fingerprinting.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide push-in classroom support during ELA instruction across Grades 6–8.
• Lead and support small-group ELA remediation for students needing reinforcement.
• Collaborate with teachers to provide targeted support aligned with daily instruction.
• Offer one-on-one and small-group academic support to students.
• Reinforce reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary development, grammar, and critical thinking.
• Help students work through challenging texts and assignments with strategies for independence.
• Help build confidence as students apply ELA skills to classwork and discussions.
• Assist with organizing materials and preparing instructional resources.
• Attend required training sessions and staff meetings.
