Job summary

Beacon Credit Union in Marion, IN is seeking a customer-focused teller to deliver fast, courteous service with financial transactions, explain products, set up new accounts, perform teller duties, and direct members to appropriate areas for service.

Your role will involve handling deposits and withdrawals, processing loan applications when needed, and helping members access Beacon’s digital and card services.

Qualifications

• One to three years of prior banking experience

• Excellent cash handling and member service skills (outgoing)

Responsibilities

• Opens, closes and maintains consumer and business checking and savings accounts, CDs, IRAs, and HSAs; performs Chexsystems screening, deceased processing, stop payments, and card disputes.
• Interviews member loan applicants to develop information concerning their loan needs, earnings and financial position; explains loan programs and approves loan options; assists with loan applications.
• Processes deposits and withdrawals, scans checks, handles loan payments, IRA or HSA contributions, Visa payments, money orders, and cash equivalents; balances cash drawer.
• Identifies cross-sell opportunities and cross-sells products and services to members.
• Maintains accurate member data in Core system and Application Xtender; documents membership files.
• Assists members with access to Beacon services such as Check Ordering, Beacon Online Banking, Bill Pay, Direct Deposit, e-statements and e-alerts.
• Responds to member inquiries and resolves issues within authority; refers complex problems to supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Role

To ensure members and potential members receive fast, courteous, and accurate service with their financial transactions. To explain products and services, set up new accounts, perform teller transactions, respond to problems, and direct members to other areas of service, as needed.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Opens, closes and maintains consumer and business checking and savings accounts, CD's, IRA's, and HSA's. Performs Chexsystems screening, deceased processing, stop payments, and card disputes. Interviews member loan applicants to develop information concerning their consumer loan needs, earnings and financial position. Explains loan programs, evaluates their needs, and recommends loan options. Assists members with the consumer loan application process. Reviews terms and conditions of an approved loan with the member.
• Receives and processes deposits by cash or check via in person, night depository, or by mail. Disburses share withdrawals by cash or check. Processes coin. Receives and processes loan payments and IRA or HSA contributions. Processes Visa payments and cash advances. Sells money orders and cashier's checks to members. Balances cash drawer and daily transactions. Scans checks and teller work daily.
• Identifies cross-sell opportunities and cross-sells products and services to members.
• Ensures that person, organization and account information is properly recorded and updated as needed in Core system and Superior IRA. Scans and saves to Application Xtender all required member service documentation such as applications, certificates, legal documents, etc.
• Assists members in obtaining access to services such as Check Ordering, ATM or Check Cards, Touch Tone Teller, Beacon Online Banking and Bill Pay, Direct Deposit, e-statements, e-mail alerts, Safe Deposit Boxes, Outgoing Wire requests, etc.
• Responds to member inquiries regarding Credit Union products and services. Resolves problems that are within their authority and refers problems that are beyond their authority to their supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Standard position hours fall within Monday through Friday 8:15-5:15 and Saturday 8:30-12:15 (1-2 Saturdays off per month), with at least one full day off per calendar week. Standardly 20-29 hours/week. Flexibility is requested as ours may vary based on member center coverage needs and the employee may be asked to periodically work at another member center (i.e north instead of south in Marion).
