Job summary

Decatur County Rural Electric Membership Corp is seeking a part-time Member Service Representative to serve as the primary contact for members, handling account questions and payments in person or by phone.

The role involves processing transfers, reconnects, new service orders, and promoting broadband services while handling Tier 1 support calls. Part-time schedule is 3 days a week (Mon, Wed, Fri).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years of customer service, sales and computer knowledge.
• 1 year experience handling money in a business environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support members by phone or in person with account questions.
• Process member payments via cash register, drive-up window, or night deposit.
• Initiate and close account transfers, reconnects, disconnects and new service orders.
• Initiate service orders for tree work, security lights and other items.
• Perform general office support tasks.
• Handle gas applications, transfers, leases and SPCs.
• Promote and explain broadband products and services to customers.
• Take Tier 1 trouble tickets from customers and troubleshoot to resolve issues.

The Member Service Representative is the primary point of contact for members and is responsible for processing member account activity as well as interacting with members to address their account questions.

Part-time position, 3 days week, M, W, F (days may fluctuate occasionally)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Support members by telephone or in person to provide information and/or answer general member account questions.
• Process member payments through cash register, drive-up window, or night deposit.
• Initiate and close account transfers, reconnects, disconnects and new service orders.
• Initiate service orders for tree work, security lights and other miscellaneous items.
• Perform office support functions.
• Complete gas applications, transfers, job sheets, obtain lease agreements and SPCs.
• Responsible for assisting and selling broadband services to customers. Describe the features, benefits and value of broadband product offerings and services.
• Responsible for taking Tier 1 trouble ticket calls from customers and troubleshooting to identify appropriate resolution.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an equivalent of the following education and/or experience.

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • 2 years of customer service, sales and computer knowledge.
  • 1 year experience handling money in a business environment
