We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our mission of bridging the gap in mental healthcare. In this key role, you will oversee billing operations for our outpatient mental health clinics, ensuring smooth coordination of insurance and billing matters between clients, clinicians, and payers. Your accuracy, communication, and service will directly support our commitment to providing high-quality, accessible mental health care to the community.

This is a part-time position, with the opportunity to expand into a full-time role for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify client insurance coverage and eligibility
  • Submit accurate and timely claims to insurance companies
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate billing records
  • Review patient balances and follow up with clients in collaboration with the clinical team
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as needed
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Provide exceptional customer service and contribute to a positive, welcoming atmosphere

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred
  • Previous experience in a billing role, ideally in a healthcare or mental health setting
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems; experience with Valant a plus
  • Familiarity with Waystar a plus
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Calm, empathetic demeanor in a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of mental health services and terminology is a plus
  • Customer service experience, especially supporting individuals with sensitive needs

Preferred Skills
  • Experience in a healthcare, mental health, or counseling setting
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient privacy laws
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
