Part-Time Medical Assistant (PRN) – Oneonta, AL

MainStreet Family Care is growing and we're looking to hire a fast, fun and friendly Part-Time Medical Assistant to work in our Oneonta Region, subject to work as needed! Our Medical Assistants provide a great service to our patients providing them with excellent care. Services provided to the public include urgent care, primary medical care, telemedicine, and occupational medicine. The ideal applicant will be able to assist the onsite provider with patient intake, assessment, treatment, and discharge. Flexibility is a must!

Responsibilities:

  • Clinical
    • Prepare examination and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
    • Take patient histories and vital signs.
    • Prepare patient for examination and treatment.
    • Dispense medication as directed.
    • Instruct and educate patients about discharge instructions if applicable.
    • Handle telephone calls from clients, patients, prospective patients, physicians, pharmacies, as well as other staff.
    • Provide solutions to patient concerns within the scope of position.
  • Clerical
    • Patient intake including scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and collections.
    • Provide accurate and timely documentation to staff, insurance carriers and companies.
    • Correspondence by phone, in person, or in writing regarding patient care, i.e. insurance carriers, physicians, non-clinic physicians.
    • Maintain patient records for clinical use, medical records use, billing use, physicians’ review, etc.
    • Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments.
    • Complete opening and closing procedures.
  • Other Duties
    • Maintain disposable and non-disposable supplies, i.e. wound care supplies, laundry, etc.
    • Annual training as needed.
    • Help produce and maintain patient education instruction hand-outs.
    • Maintain clean, professional working/treatment area.
    • Accept and assume responsibility for special projects as they arise.
    • All other duties as assigned.

Rotating Schedule:

  • Clinic staff will be split into two shifts: Shift A and Shift B. Each shift will work on a rotating schedule that includes every other weekend, sample below:
  • MainStreet Clinic Hours:
    • Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
    • Saturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • KidsStreet Clinic Hours (Montgomery, Pelham, Mobile, Columbus only):
    • Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
    • Saturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
  • Flexibility for the schedule is a must!

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Prior Medical Assisting experience or education is beneficial, but not required.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Position begins at $14/hr.
  • Mileage pay.
