Job summary

Centura College in Newport News, VA is hiring a part-time Medical Assistant Instructor to teach and mentor students in classroom and lab settings. The role includes curriculum support, scheduling, and maintaining equipment while ensuring a positive learning environment for students.

The position requires MA-related certification and at least 3 years of practical experience; no prior teaching experience is required as a 5-day paid instructor training is provided.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 3 years related practical work experience in the subject matter.
• RMA, CCMA, or CMA certification. BLS current or within 6 months of hire date.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven, compliance-oriented educational environment.
• Excellent computer skills with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams.
• No prior teaching experience required; a 5-day paid instructor training program is provided.

Responsibilities

• Teach classes on a regularly scheduled basis and create a welcoming environment for students.
• Assist in curriculum development, class scheduling, and maintaining tools and equipment.
• Maintain neat and orderly classroom or lab.
• Submit attendance, grades, evaluations and reports to Supervisor as required.
• Notify Supervisor of issues requiring immediate attention.
• Utilize retention techniques to assist students.
• Attend in-service trainings and faculty meetings.
• Assist with department equipment and supplies inventory and replenishment.
• Alert Supervisor to student absences and address absences as directed.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
