Job summary

Akron Children’s is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support under a Provider and/or licensed Nurse. The role is onsite in Ohio with a 0.6 FTE schedule and a $2,000 sign-on bonus.

The candidate will prepare patients, handle vital signs, phlebotomy as needed, document in EPIC, assist with scheduling and billing tasks, and maintain clinical areas.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a approved Medical Assistant Program, EMT, or Paramedic Program required.
• BLS training from the American Heart Association is required.
• MA certification preferred; no prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examination; takes and records vital signs; performs phlebotomy as needed; administers medications as directed by Providers.
• Collects data contributing to assessment and discharge plans under the Licensed Nurse.
• Collects, processes, and submits laboratory specimens per policy.
• Communicates patient findings to Providers/Nurses using proper documentation.
• Accurate and timely documentation in EPIC system.
• Performs appointment scheduling, visit prep, co-pay collection, and patient tracking.
• Performs department-specific duties such as POCT and vision/hearing screenings.
• Maintains examination rooms; handles routine office tasks as needed.
