Job summary

Northern Arizona University’s Mechanical Engineering Department invites applications for a part-time, non-tenure track Instructor. The position supports ME, Mechatronics, and related courses, with teaching up to 12 credit hours per academic year and development of new undergraduate courses.

Ideal candidates hold an MS in Mechanical Engineering, have at least three years of industry experience, and are prepared to mentor student clubs, maintain office hours, and contribute to ABET-accredited

Qualifications

• MS in Mechanical Engineering by Aug 17, 2026
• Minimum of three years of industry experience in mechanical, aerospace or manufacturing engineering
• Prior university teaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Teach up to 12 credit hours of ME, Mechatronics and Robotics, or Multidisciplinary Engineering courses.
• Develop new undergraduate courses to support department programs.
• Contribute to retention of mechanical engineering majors.
• Maintain office hours and direct interaction with students.
• Remain current in their discipline and update course content as appropriate.
• Implement assessment processes for learning outcomes.
• Mentor student clubs (e.g., SAE, ASME, SWE).
• Other duties as assigned.
