Position Summary

The School of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering anticipates hiring Adjunct (Temporary, Part time) Faculty to teach and/or develop program courses in Mechanical Engineering for the Summer 2025, Fall 2025, and Spring 2026 semesters. Anticipated openings may include the following subjects: Dynamics, Vibrations, Control Systems, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Finite Element Analysis, Engineering Materials Science, Fluid Mechanics, Machine Components, Engineering Design, and Aerospace Systems.

Mechanical Engineering is seeking qualified temporary part‑time faculty members to teach in the various disciplines as specified above. Instructors are responsible for all aspects of courses taught including meeting with class during assigned times, content delivery, assignment development, grading, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning as outlined by the Department Chair.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to the Department Chair.

Wages: Adjunct Faculty in Mechanical Engineering are currently compensated $6,256.49 per 3 credit hour course (subject to change).

Best Consideration Dates
  • April 1, 2025 for Summer Semester 2025
  • August 1, 2025 for Fall Semester 2025
  • December 1, 2025 for Spring Semester 2026
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas listed in the position summary
  • Online teaching experience
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
