Job summary

Union Settlement, an East Harlem nonprofit, is seeking a part-time Meals on Wheels Driver for 9:00am–3:30pm, M-F, to deliver meals to homebound clients in the East Harlem area.

The role requires a valid NY driver license, at least 3 years of driving, and the ability to lift 30+ pounds. English proficiency is needed; bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus. Report to the MOW Coordinator and join a dedicated aging, health, and wellness team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid NYS driver license.
• At least 3 years driving experience.
• No DWI in prior 2 years.
• No more than 1 moving violation in prior 2 years.
• English speaking and writing proficiency; bilingual (EN/ES) a plus.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (30+ pounds) and walk to deliver meals daily.
• Good organizational skills, time management and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of and desire to work with aging populations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver meals to homebound clients on a daily basis.
• Use heating/cooling devices when packing meals.
• Package meals into hot and cold containers for delivery.
• Report delivery difficulties or changes in client status per agency protocol.
• Report issues at clients’ homes (tampering, etc.).
• Report vehicle problems to MOW Coordinator immediately.
• Clean and sanitize delivery bags, boxes, and truck compartments daily.
• Assist with kitchen or other program duties as assigned by MOW Coordinator or Senior Services leadership.
