Job summary

Berne Apparel is seeking a part-time Materials & Product Development assistant in Ossian, IN. You will manage material and color libraries, enter data in Centric, and support the development process with physical samples and color standards.

The ideal candidate has a passion for textiles, attention to color, and strong organizational skills, with a willingness to learn and collaborate with the Materials team.

Qualifications

• Degree in product development or related field is helpful but not required.
• Interest in product development, materials, textiles, or apparel.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a hands-on role.
• Eye for color and ability to distinguish color/material differences.
• Comfort with handling physical samples, swatches, and materials libraries.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and organize physical material and color libraries.
• Build and update material standards for active materials and suppliers.
• Enter and maintain material, trim, color, and supplier data in Centric.
• Organize zipper standards: styles, sizes, colors, suppliers, pricing, samples.
• Confirm zipper and trim standards across multiple suppliers.
• Build and maintain thread color library and image assets.
