Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a part-time Materials Aide in the Purchasing department to receive, deliver, and restock hospital supplies across patient care areas and ancillary buildings. This role uses a computerized material system to enter restocking and track inventories, and requires loading/unloading, stocking stockrooms, and operating material handling equipment.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–6:30 PM.

Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service and ability to lift heavy packages.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Massachusetts Driver's License required for this position.

Position: Materials Aide
Department: Purchasing
Schedule: Part-time - Monday-Friday, 2:00PM - 6:30PM
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Tracks incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and verify against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records; examines incoming shipments for damage or shortages and documents findings.
  • Prepares material for shipment; weighs and stamps packages.
  • Assists in loading and unloading trucks.
  • Distributes or delivers incoming items to appropriate department or stores items in stockroom.
  • Operates material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, dollies, and other related equipment.
  • Participates in routine, periodic inventories, counting, and recording stock items.
  • Tags new stock with prices or other identifying information.
  • Signs for incoming shipments as received.
  • Fills orders and issues materials and supplies per requests; documents transactions according to established procedure.
  • Operates a hospital-owned vehicle to transport specimens, equipment and related items and supplies safely and comfortably to and from areas within the hospital, as well as off-site locations, in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes computerized or automated systems to accomplish tasks.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Skill in lifting heavy packages and objects
  • Skill in following both verbal and written instructions.
  • A valid Massachusetts Driver's License is required for this position.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Materials Handling, Shipping and Receiving experience preferred.
Compensation Range:

$16.07- $23.89

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer.
